Picture a lump of clay, unshaped and formless, lying on a potter’s wheel. The potter begins to work, pressing, molding, and refining the clay into a vessel of beauty and purpose. But as the wheel turns, the clay begins to resist, complaining of the pressure and the spinning. It cries out, “Why must I be shaped this way? Why the fire of the kiln? Let me remain as I am!”
The potter, with patience and care, replies, “If I leave you as you are, you will remain formless and fragile. It is through the pressure, the shaping, and the fire that you will become what you were meant to be—a vessel that carries life and beauty.”
Our lives are much like that clay. We often resist God’s shaping hand, misunderstanding the trials and challenges we face. Yet, it is through His loving guidance and the refining fire of life that we are transformed into vessels fit for His purpose.
“But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’” — Romans 9:20
Do you trust the Potter’s vision, even when the wheel spins and the fire burns?
